Building Fund Bricks
Last year, Lifeline Newcastle & Hunter launched the Lifeline Building Fund.
The purpose of the fund is to enable Lifeline Newcastle & Hunter to move to a larger, centralised location within the Hunter. The move will ensure that Lifeline is able to engage more counsellors and crisis supporters to meet increasing demand and will enable Lifeline Newcastle & Hunter to base all counselling and training services under one roof.
Through the Lifeline Fund, Lifeline Newcastle & Hunter is initially seeking Foundation Members to make a $500 tax-deducible contribution by purchasing a commemorative “brick”. Foundation members can be individuals, families, businesses or organisations. The bricks can also be purchased in memory of loved ones.
The names of all Foundation Members will be immortalised on a commemorative wall in our new premises.
One of the first people to buy a commemorative brick and to contribute to the building fund was Leone Woolnough.
Leone purchased a brick in memory of her beloved parents Len and Ruth Naylor who died suddenly and within a short space of each other. The family had been left shell-shocked and were searching for a way to channel their grief and to honour the lives of their adored parents and grandparents.
Leone described the opportunity to support Lifeline in a tangible and practical way as a “gift”.
In Leone’s own words... “My parents knew the Rev. Dr Alan Walker and they would be proud to know that their names will be forever linked with the great work he started back in the 60’s.”
