Lifeline's Lifesaver Award
Concerned with unhealthy stress levels particularly in local workplaces, Lifeline created the annual Workplace Lifesaver Award to highlight local people who, in their own way, make a significant contribution to the mental health and well-being of their work colleagues.
The 2012 award was held on Friday 15th of June at the Newcastle Jockey Club.
Lifeline Newcastle & Hunter, along with major supporter ResCo Services, presented the 2012 Lifeline Workplace Lifesaver Award to Melissa Tull from Newcastle Eye Centre.
Melissa received the award for her “extraordinary attitude to work and her life”
According to nominator Leanne Johnson, “ Melissa has the ability to turn any potentially negative environment into a happy one. Melissa organises fundraisers, encourages colleagues to lead a more healthy lifestyle, has a can-do attitude and an ability to listen and show understanding”
Special guest speaker at the luncheon was Australian Coal Association CEO Dr Nikki Williams.
With a BA Hons 1st Class in Politics and Industrial Relations & a Ph.D. in International Relations in the field of Terrorism, Dr Williams captivated those in attendance with stories of an education and career that has taken her to all corners of the globe – from working with the UN to a 25 years in the resources sector.
Lifeline Newcastle & Hunter would like to thank the award supporters and attendees. Through ResCo's sponsorship, ticket sales and the proceeds of a fundraising raffle and auction, $18,000 was raised at the award luncheon - vital funds for Lifeline Newcastle & Hunter's counselling services.
