Hunter Valley Men's Program

Thanks to the generous support of Xstrata Coal NSW, Lifeline is expanding the service provided to the community of Singleton with the commencement of a new Men’s Program

The Men’s Program consists of personal counselling and a Men’s Group for men who want to change violent behaviour, to stop hurting and frightening their family. The main themes that will be covered in the Group include awareness of violence and its effects, self-awareness, anger management, listening and assertiveness and taking responsibility. The Group begins in June and will be run on Wednesday evenings from the Stables in Bishopsgate Street. This group and counselling will also be provided from the new Neighbourhood Centre in Mary Street when the Centre has been refurbished.

In addition to the Men’s Group and personal counselling, Lifeline in conjunction with the Neighbourhood Centre are planning the formation of a Men’s Shed, based on similar Sheds throughout NSW and will provide or coordinate a community education program including workshops on self-esteem, parenting and dealing with separation.

To register, or for more information on the Men’s Group, please call Brian Lamb on 0400 307 426.
