A new program will teach people how to become more aware of their work colleagues.

People spend a lot of time with their work colleagues so it is no surprise a local charity has developed a program focused on workers helping each other.

Lifeline Hunter branch has partnered with mining company Resco and together have started a program aimed at learning about how to become more aware of fellow workers.

Someone is reported to have died by suicide every four hours in Australia, so it is no surprise Lifeline and Resco want to do something about this sad statistic.

Called MindYourMates, the program will run for one year, where counsellors will give workers a one-hour talk on how to be aware that a colleague could be in trouble by their behaviour.

In what is believed to be a first for any Lifeline Centre in Australia, Lifeline Newcastle & Hunter has opened a Lifeline shop in a Stockland mall.
The new shop on the Gallery level at Stockland Jesmond has been stocked with pre-loved clothing donated by our generous local community as well as brand new items at discounted prices. There is something for everyone including handbags, ties, jewellery and clothing for men, women and kids starting from as little as 50c. Proceeds from the Jesmond shop and the seven other Lifeline shops in the Hunter directly support Lifeline Newcastle & Hunter’s 24 Hr Telephone Counselling Service, a service that has been in operation since 1966. The other Lifeline shops are located at Cardiff, Islington, Maitland, Mayfield, Muswellbrook, Toronto and Wallsend.
